Suzie drank her coffee, nestled between two doors in a building-connector bridge. Cherrydrop didn't drink his. He never did, even though he asked for one every morning.

They liked to sit and stare at the people who crossed between the buildings and under the bridge, people who on most days never noticed they were there.

"You'd think this was a runway, not a university." Suzie said.

"You look better than all of those girls." Cherrydrop reassured her.

She blushed, but continued.

"Really, is it necessary to have huge hair every day here? And short skirts? And push up bras?"

Cherrydrop noticed Suzie staring at one girl in particular. "She paid 300$ for that shirt."

"Do you think she'll wear it more than once?" Suzie asked, sipping at her coffee.

"No."

"Of course not. It's like they had no tuition, room fees or books to pay."

"Maybe they don't."

"Maybe they slept with the dean. God, I don't even know who the dean is." she sighed, a little sad.

"I could find him for you." Cherrydrop purred.

Suzie sipped her coffee. "Then I wouldn't be better than those sluts. No, we'll get through this alone, my darling." she said, her voice trying for steady.

The horse-like steps of wooden clogs on floor started getting louder as a tall girl with tall shoes walked down the hall.

"Does she really need those shoes? It's not like she's not six feet tall already." Suzie said, staring at the wooden four-inch soles.

"And in winter like it is now..."

"In winter..."

"In winter she could slip." Cherrydrop said quickly.

Suzie turned her head towards him just quick enough to miss the girl's ankle twist and crack, the bones of her legs sticking out of her stocking clad flesh at interesting angles. She fell to the ground and started
screaming, trying to attract attention. Suzie looked at her, uninterested. People came running from all over.

"It's getting crowded here, Suz..."

--

"I hate obligatory study groups."

"Quiet, Cherrydrop!" Suzie whispered. She zipped her bag shut in an attempt to snuff out his voice.

"Suzie!" the girl who had taken the head of the group said. "If you're so keen on interrupting, maybe you could do the next one?"

"No..."

"Do it." Cherrydrop commanded.

"Oh fine."

Suzie stared at the problem for half a moment then said and answer; the correct one.

The girl in charge's mouth hung open as she stared at her answer sheet.

"I have to go to the washroom." Suzie said. She grabbed her purse and walked out. She stood outside the room, staring in through a window beside the study-room door, looking at them talk.

"She must have cheated." She said in a high-pitched voice, reading off a guy's lips.

"You weren't, were you?"

"No, no I wasn't, of course." Suzie said. "Look at them, acting like they understand, acting like they did the readings."

"You don't think they did?"

"Of course not. They read the Coles notes, perhaps, to know just enough to impress the teacher."

"A little learning is a dangerous thing."

"Shallow draughts intoxicate the brain, and drinking largely sobers us again." Suzie sighed and took Cherrydrop out of her purse. She cuddled him to her face. "I thought university was supposed to be different, but the more I stay here, the more I realise it's all the same people that were in high school, only one year later."

"Still the same bastard?" he asked as Suzie dragged his body along her lips.

"Yes." She whispered onto him.

"They still deserve the same thing?"

"Yes, they do." Suzie said.

"Well," Cherrydrop asked. "what are we going to do about it?"

Suzie took one of his paws into her mouth and sucked it as the light bulbs in the study hall exploded in a spray of light, fire and glass. The students rushed out screaming and yelling, running past Suzie without even seeing her.

She walked in the room as the lights still flickered sparks all around. She dusted the glass off her books, still holding Cherrydrop in her mouth.

"Wanna go grab a bite?" he asked.

She nodded.

--

"Why did we have to come here?" Cherrydrop asked, peeking at Suzie out of her purse. They were in the cafeteria, where Suzie was picking at her tray, only eating the things that came pre-packaged and with an expiration date. A passed expiration date was better than none at all.

"It smells like sick." Suzie said, putting down her milk jug.

"It's probably the beef stew." Cherrydrop said.

"Maybe."

"I think I saw a finger in there as we passed by the tray."

Suzie looked around her. "This room is filthy. These people are filthy. The low ceilings cave in on you and the flies, rodents and cockroaches walk over your head and fall all around your feet...." she stomped at a cockroach and nearly missed a mouse. The thing squeaked, making Cherrydrop giggle. "I hate it," she said, "but I have to eat."

"No you don't." Cherrydrop said quietly.

Suzie thought for a minute, her sandwich nothings from her lips she finally bit down. "No, silly, you're confusing me with you." she said, with her mouth full.

A group of girls passed by her table, and one of them saw her. "Hey Suzie." she said. By the time she finished her sentence, she was already gone.

"I don't even know who that was..." Suzie said, surprised.

"I know her."

"I can't that just happened."

They stayed silent till the gaggle came back and the girl said: "Well, bye Suzie!"

Suzie's mouth dropped open.

"How dare she?" Cherrydrop said quietly.

"How dare she!" Suzie said louder. "She used my name like she knew me!" she almost started crying, but Cherrydrop hushed her.

"It's alright, Suz. Don't worry we'll deal with her."

"Hey, Suzie!" a high-pitched voices called out. Suzie spun in her chair, looking for person who'd called her. "Suz! Darling!" Suzie spun again, covering her mouth.

"You heard those, right Cherrydrop?" she asked.

"I did."

"They're playing with me! They think they know me but they don't!" She grabbed Cherrydrop out of her purse and ran out the door outside. She pushed it closed and looked in as everyone else in the cafeteria finally noticed the vermin around them and started panicking.

They hurled themselves at the door where Suzie was leaning, but her small weight kept the door shut as more rats and insects poured in.

Suzie shivered. "Oh, I forgot my coat and purse in there. You must be freezing!"

"Well, it is snowing..." Cherrydrop said sheepishly.

"Here, this'll help. she gently put him into her tank top, between her breasts.

"Let's go back to your room, Suzie. I've had enough of this for today."

Suzie's lips were turning blue. "Me too."

More. Cherrydrop gets mean. There will be 12 of these, I think. I've figured out a plot. 7 will get dangerously close to my life, 12 will divert.

First three: [link]

I'm making my own Cherrydrop.

Post-post: Oh, god, I'm sorry about the typoes and the italics. My only excuse is that it was late, and that's no excuse. Sorry guys. Most should be fixed now. There were many.
Post-post-post: Fixed the doc. Arg.

I like trip's view of this story. But I'd like to take it a step further, if I may be so indulged.

It appears that Cherrydrop continues to guide her in her hatred of these people. But most of the readers and commenters have dwelled on the belief that Suzie and Cherrydrop are the good guys and all those conceited snobs are the villains. I'd like to turn it on its head and say that Suzie is the victim of madness. Cherrydrop is representative of the devil on her shoulder, that encourages her malice and rampages. Thus, this brings up two pertinent questions. Who is the angel? And who really blows up light bulbs, breaks necks, and leads rodents to the charge? Is it Cherrydrop? Or Suzie?

Hmm...
